Bulgur Wheat Cereal
w/ Pears, Currants and Walnuts

New Taste Thinking:

Burgur cereal with pears is the perfect examples of a delicious, fresh whole grain breakfast. All of the ingredients can be prepared ahead of time and will be ready and waiting in your refrigerator. The naturally nutty flavor of the bulgur matched with the sweetness of the cooked pears creates a wonderful treat that can be enjoyed any time of day. A bowl of this cereal will fill you up all morning and give you the energy you need.
Heat Oven To 375°

Ingredients Per Serving:

1/2    Pear, cooked and chilled
1       Tbs. Walnuts, chopped
1       Tbs. Currants or Raisins
1       Cup Bulgur Wheat

Cut pear in half and remove the seeds.

Note:
This recipe works best if pears are nice and ripe before baking.

Pears are typically very under-ripe at the grocery store and need 5-7 days to ripen at home.

Place pears onto a sheet pan.

Roast in oven for 20 minutes.

Remove and let cool.

Place pears into storage bags or containers and refrigerate until needed.

The cooked pears also freeze well.

To Serve:

Place one cup of cooked bulgur into a cereal bowl.

Add pears, currants and nuts.

Mix ingredients together and enjoy.

Note:

Cook bulgur ahead of time and keep for up to one week, refrigerated, in a plastic storage bag.
