Crispy Whole Wheat Lavash w/ Figgy Spread and Almond Butter
Figgy Spread Ingredients:
5 Ounces Dried Figs
4 Tbs. Water
Crispy Lavash Recipe:
1 Whole Wheat Lavash or Tortilla
2 Tbs. Almond Butter
2 Tbs. Figgy Spread
These are dried Turkish Figs.
They are naturally sweet and delicious.
They are unsweetened, which means they have not been rolled in sugar before drying.
They contain no sulphur, which is a preservative that can cause an allergic reaction in many people.
I have found them in a few different stores; These are from Trader Joe's.
Cut the stems off of the figs.
Cut figs in half.
Place figs into a small pan.
Add water to the pan.
Bring water to a boil.
Boil for a half minute.
Cover pan and remove from the heat.
Let figs steam in the pan for 10 minutes.
You can use foil if you don't have a cover that fits.
Remove softened figs from the pan.
Place figs into a food processor.
Leave the liquid in the pan.
Puree the figs in the processor.
Puree well, will take a couple of minutes.
Remove from processor and place into a small bowl.
Cover and place into the fridge.
For the crispy lavash:
Heat oven to 375°.
Spread almond butter and figs evenly across the lavash.
Fold lavash in 3rds. and place into the oven.
Bake for about 10 minutes.
Remove from oven, cut and serve.,
