Char-Grilled Kale

Ingredients:

1      Head Kale
2     Tbs. Sesame Oil
1     Tbs. Olive Oil
2     Tbs. Soy Sauce
2     Tbs. Brown Rice Vinegar, or other vinegar
2     Cloves Garlic
1/2  Ounce Ginger
1/2  Shallot

Garnish:
1     Tbs. Sesame Seeds
1     teaspoon Dulce Seaweed Flakes, optional

Trim off the very ends of the kale stems.

Wash kale a few times in cold water.

Be sure to change the water after each wash.

Leave kale to drain while preparing the rest of the recipe.

Peel garlic, ginger and shallot.

Slice garlic, ginger and shallot and place into a food processor.

You can also just chop them up very fine with your knife.

Chop ingredients in processor.

Add oils, soy and vinegar.

Puree everything together.

Pour dressing into a bowl.

Use a brush to dot and blot dressing all over both sides of each kale leaf.

Be sure that chopped ingredients are spread evenly and not left in the bottom of the bowl.

Repeat until all leaves and dressed.

Heat bbq grill until very hot.

Lay each kale leaf directly onto the hot grates.

Cook for about half a minute on each side.

Use long tongs to flip over each leaf.

Remove charred kale and place onto a platter.

Garnish as desired.

New Taste Thinking:
You are going to love this recipe. The charred flavor from the grill gives the kale a whole new identity. You will also notice that the greens are just slightly wilted from cooking and keep their vibrant green color. Serve a couple of leaves as a portion and eat with a knife and fork. They make a great salad or side dish.
