Ingredients: 1 Cup Wheat Berries 1/4 Cup Wild Rice, long grain 1/2 Cup Brown Rice, short grain 1/2 Cup Quinoa
Note: All of these ingredients can be found in the bulk bin section of your grocery store.
Directions:
"Short & Sweet" Version:
Bring a large pot of water, 3/4 full, to a full boil.
Add the wheat berries to the boiling water and set a timer for 15 minutes.
Make sure that the water stays at a full, rapid boil all the time.
After the timer goes off add the wild rice and set timer for 10 minutes.
After the timer goes off add the brown rice and set timer for 25 minutes.
After the timer goes off add the quinoa and set timer for 15 minutes.
When timer goes off all grains will be cooked.
Bring water to a rolling boil over high heat.
Add grains, one at a time as described above.
Keep water boiling at all times.
Be sure to re-set timer after each addition of grain to the pot.
One Cup of wheat berries.
Wheat berries will boil for a total of 65 minutes.
1/4 Cup of wild rice.
Wild rice will boil for a total of 50 minutes.
1/2 cup of short grain brown rice.
Brown rice will boil for a total of 40 minutes.
1/2 cup of quinoa
Quinoa will boil for a total of 15 minutes.
Pour the cooked grains into a large colander.
Spray grains with cold water for a few seconds to stop the cooking process.
Leave grains to drain for 10 minutes.
Pour grains onto a dry, clean sheet pan.
Let grains cool & air-dry for 15 minutes.
Place grains into a freezer bag or other container.
Keep them in the fridge for up to 7 days.
Can be served hot or cold.
