Tequila with Sangrita

New Taste Thinking:

With 600 recipes already posted I think today would be a good time to bring up the subject of Alcohol. Clearly this recipe has nothing to do with whole grains and whole foods. Sangrita is a spicy aperitif that is traditionally served with silver sipping tequila. You take a little sip of tequila and a little sip of sangrita. Delicious flavors and not a lot of calories. Sangrita is also great by itself as a nonalcoholic happy hour drink.

Sangrita Ingredients:

1      Cucumber
1      tsp. Lime Zest
2      Cups Tomato Juice
2      Cups Orange Juice
6      Tbsp. Lime Juice
1      tsp. Worcestershire Sauce
1      tsp. Dark Chili Powder
1/2   tsp. Salt
4      Drops Hot Sauce, or 6 or 10......

Peel the cucumber.

Grate the cucumber into a mixing bowl.

Zest a lime over the cucumber.

Squeeze a few limes to yield 6 tablespoons.

Measure & pour tomato and orange juice into bowl.

Add all remaining ingredients to the bowl.

You can add any hot sauce that you like.

Add a few drops and mix everything together.

Add more hot sauce after you strain the sangrita if you want it hotter.

Cover the bowl and place into the fridge for a day or two.

Strain out the cucumber.

Press hard on the grated cucumber to extract as much flavor as you can,

Pour the sangrita into a serving pitcher.

Save cucumber and enjoy as a snack.
