Cooking Whole Wheat Spaghetti Or Other Pasta
|
Ingredients:
1 Pound Whole Wheat Spaghetti 1 Gallon Water 2 Tbs. Olive Oil

Bring water to a boil.
Note: Most chefs salt the water at this time. You can add the salt if you like but may also consider adding salt after the noodles are sauced.

Place oil into a large bowl.

Add noodles to the boiling water.
Cook spaghetti for 8 to 10 minutes.
Stir from time to time.
Taste a few noodles to check for doneness.

When pasta is cooked, strain the noodles in a colander.
Do not spray with water.
You can serve the pasta at this point or follow the next steps if you would like to have the pasta cooked and ready a day or two ahead.

Let pasta strain in colander for a quick minute.
Place the noodles into the bowl with oil.
Toss noodles and oil together.
Make sure to get some oil on all of the noodles.

Spread hot, oiled noodles over a sheet pan.
Let noodles cool for about half an hour.
You can toss the noodles a couple of times to help them cool and this will also keep them from sticking together.

When noodles are cool you can place them into a large zip-lock bag.
They will keep for a few days in the fridge.
You can microwave them as needed.
